Concept of Organizational development (OD):
Organizational development (OD) is the process of improving organizational efficiency through planned change. It is a long run plan to change behavioral attitudes and performance of the organization. Its main motivate is to improve overall operating efficiency of the organization.
OD is a systemic change effort, using behavioral science knowledge and skill, to transform an organization to a new state. Organizational development is system-wide and value-based collaborative process of applying behavioral science knowledge to the adaptive development, improvement and reinforcement of such organizational features as the strategies, structure, processes, people and cultures that lead to organizational effectiveness.

Objectives or Goals of OD:
Objectives/Goals of OD can be stated as the following:

1) To create an open, problem solving climate throughout an organization,
2) To supplement the authority associated with role or status.
3) To build trust among persons and groups throughout an organization,
4) To make competition more relevant to work goals and to maximize collaborative efforts,
5) To develop a reward system, which recognizes both the achievement of the organization's goals and development of people?,
6) To increase the sense of 'ownership' or organization's objectives through the work force,
7) To help managers to manage according to relevant objectives rather than according to past practices,
8) To increase self-control and self-direction for people within the organization.
