Concept of Interpersonal and Organizational Communication :

Communication is the process of transferring information from one person to another. It is the exchange of facts, opinions, ideas, suggestions and other information from one from to another.
Interpersonal Communication :
This communication takes place between two individuals or group individuals in face to face or through direct contact. This communication takes place in the workplace. It involves two-way communication. In this method, both the parties exchange their views. For instance, a manager provides direction and guidance to subordinates to perform given job and subordinates communicate the progress of work to the managers: oral and written.

Organizational Communication :
Organizational communication is a process of exchanging ideas, meaning and understanding between two or more people through verbal and non verbal means in the organization. It is one of the important functions of management. A manager has to make necessary communication to his subordinates to implement plan and get feedback about the performance.

Purpose of Organizational Communication :
The basic purposes of organizational communication are explained below:

i. Provide information:
The basic purpose of organizational communication is to provide information to their organizational members. Without sharing of information, organizational tasks cannot be performed.

ii. Decision-making:
Organizational communication helps managers make decision in the organization. Flow of information is required to aware of the current reality and to make effective decisions.

iii. Problem solving:
Problem solving requires ideas, information to develop alternatives through group efforts. The process of brainstorming and Delphi technique etc helps solve problem in the organization.

iv. Evaluation and control:
Information and communication feedback facilitate the monitoring and evaluating activities. Controlling requires regular feedback information and communication.
